Since the beginning of time, humans have evolved continuously and history bears witness to the fact that numerous civilizations have flourished on this planet before us. Since the dawn of time, humans have practiced living together with interdependence and a mutual understanding. This led to the development of lifestyles, groups, and larger communities. These communities went on to grow in size and develop their own way of life, from governance to law and order. These civilizations exhibited different ways of living, which has been a much-loved topic amongst anthropologists and historians.

If you love reading about ancient civilizations, then this list is for you.

1. The Ancient Greek Civilization

From 2700 BC to 479 BC, the Ancient Greek Civilization has been the most influential and the most progressive in terms of mode of governance. In fact, it was the Greek civilization that laid down the basic foundation of democracy and the concept of a senate that is practiced even today.

2. The Incan Civilization

The Incan Empire, also known as Incan Civilization, was an empire that flourished in the Andean region of the South American region from 1438 AD to 1532 AD. It is now known as modern-day Peru, with some traces that can be found in Ecuador and Chile as well. Inca leaders resisted the Spaniards until their last city Vilcabamba was eventually conquered.

3. The Roman Civilization

One of the most ancient and progressive civilizations to have ever walked the Earth was the Roman Civilization. During the Period of 550 BC- 465 AD, it ruled the world with its mystical legends, mode of governance, myths, and knowledge. The empire fell due to its vastness, which had resulted in issues related to governance, and eventually, it was overrun by barbarians from eastern and northern Europe.

4. The Aztec Civilization

Modern-day Mexico is the location the Aztec Civilization once occupied. It quickly rose up as one of the strongest civilizations alongside the Incan Civilization. Around the year 1325, various communities began creating an alliance that went on to dominate the Valley of Mexico. The civilization rose up just as it fell– rising up and falling to a stronger competitor, all in one century.

5. The Persian Civilization

Located in modern-day Iran, the Persian Civilization ruled the world from 550 BC to 331 BC. The Persians were quick to take over a vast geographical area and in a short span of 200 years, it had managed to create a full-fledged empire. This empire laid down the foundation of an extensive trading network and developed routes for communication between 3 continents –Asia, Africa, and Europe.
