Jacqueline Bouvier and John F.Kennedy first met in 1952 when the latter was a congressman. The chemistry between the two was palpable and things quickly progressed to the point that by next year, the two had already tied the knot in holy matrimony.
Former Employees Dish on The Kennedy Family
Jackie might be best-remembered today as a former U.S. First Lady but in reality, she was so much more than that. From being an icon of fashion and glamour around the world and her knack for redesigning the White House to being a loving mother and a successful editor, there were many sides to her.
Due to her mile-long legs and slim figure, millions around the world were curious about the secret to Jackie’s envious physique and decades later, we finally have the answer. Former White House employees like Kathy McKeon and Annemarie Huste have since opened up on Mrs. Kennedy’s eating habits, and even her secret late-night meals!
Her Typical Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Meals
In an article for Weight Watchers Magazine, Huste revealed that Jackie’s food preferences included the likes of baked tomatoes, lemon broiled chicken, Bibb salad, and Spanish melon.
For their breakfast, the 35th president of the United States opted for bacon and poached eggs with toast while his wife fancied herself some tea and a boiled egg. For lunch and dinner, she would normally stick with either fruit and cottage cheese or fish/chicken breast with some steamed vegetables and salad on the side. When it was time to enjoy some sugary treats with her children, Jackie and her kids would sometimes choose a shepherd’s pie to satisfy their sweet tooth.
Jackie’s Secret Late-Night Snacking
McKeon, who served the Kennedy family for some 13 as a nanny and an assistant, has since disclosed even more secrets about the former first family in her book “Jackie's Girl: My Life With The Kennedy Family.”
McKeon has also revealed that although Jackie was revered around the world for her stunning figure and toned body, she actually loved binge-eating fatty and sugary foods in secret.
She went on to divulge that sometimes, Jackie would creep into the White House kitchen in the dead of the night without turning on any of the lights to secretly snack on comfort food like ice cream. In McKeon’s own words, Jackie did not merely indulge herself with a teaspoon or two of ice cream but would instead use a large spoon to dig into the entire container!
