The Earth, even with its scientific advancements, remains largely unexplored. Oftentimes humans come across some weird, awe-inspiring events on Earth, which not only intrigue us, but also make us question everything we previously knew about our home planet. Some of the most bizarre things scientists have observed on Earth are:

Overgrown Moon
The Earth has one of the most overgrown moons in the entire solar system. Viewing the supermoon has become quite common these days, with the celestial body appearing in all its glory and majesty, but despite being the ‘normal’ size for humans, the Earth’s satellite is the largest satellite in the solar system, speaking relatively to the size of the Earth. It is almost a quarter of the size of Earth, making it one of the largest satellites in the solar system.
The only pair that comes close to the Earth and its moon is Pluto and its biggest moon, Charon. The pair doesn’t act like a planet-moon combo, but rather, they twirl around each other in a binary system. Due to the size and nearness of the Earth’s moon, we are able to see complete solar eclipses.

Biggest Airborne Mammal Migration
The biggest migration of animals is airborne, where millions of enormous fruit bats fly between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo every year. The fruit bats are the size of a cat, and more than ten million of these animals migrate to and from Congo and Zambia every year, making it the largest mammal migration on the planet.
Host To An Enormous Fungus
When we hear a discussion about the biggest living things on the planet, images of blue whales or elephants pop up in our minds. But in reality, the largest single organism is an Armillaria mushroom in Oregon. The fungus was discovered in Michigan in 1992, covering more than 37 acres of land. However, according to a more recent discovery, the fungus covers a total of 2000 acres of land, and has been alive for thousands of years, making it the largest living thing on the face of the Earth!

Alien-Looking Areas
The Earth has some extremely bizarre landscapes, the weirdest of these is probably the Danakil Depression in Ethiopia. It has all the components of an alien site with hot, dry, weather, poisonous gases, lava lakes and hot springs. The area is home to colorful hydrothermal vents, which carry ecosystems that astrobiologists are studying to learn about presence of life away from Earth.
